Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu has described as “unfortunate” that some Malawians are not appreciating the railway project between Malawi and Mozambique.
Kunkuyu was speaking at the end of President Lazarus Chakwera official trip to the southern region where he inspected developmental projects in Chikwawa and Nsanje.
“It takes the will of the President to approve a project like this.Mozambique could not have done this on their own; otherwise it would just end in the bush or border.
“There is an agreement. The fuel transportation has been shortened although half of it is by rail and the other half by road,” Kunkuyu said.
The minister highlighted the project is ongoing and it will be completed as trains will be operational all the way through Malaka up to Limbe.
Ugly scenes of Chakwera presidential convoy being stoned in the lowershire and question of railway progress marred the trip.
