Zambian players Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji also made the top 10.

Temwa Chawinga’s older sister, Tabitha, bagged spot number 25 on the list.

The elder Chawinga played for Inter Milan and Paris St Germain this year, along with the Malawian national team.

In his comment, sports analyst Kim Kamau said he is upbeat that the global exploits and recognition by Temwa will attract serious interest of international teams on the local players.

Kanau said, Temwa’s achievement speaks highly of why she is a predator in the field and a net-buster; describing it as no mean achievement.

“This feat gives her a new look and Malawi Women’s Football a new meaning. A new meaning in two senses, one on her as a player as it will open more doors to her and second on Malawi Women’s Football as it will open it to the world to begin to have a closer look to our girls,” said Kamau

The IFFHS has been producing rankings since 1984.
