The Senior Resident Magistrate’s court at Lilongwe has convicted and sentenced Kassimu Chilumpha, aged 20, to 10 years imprisonment for having sexual activities with a 10-year-old boy at Kachipungu Minibus Depot on August 16, 2022.
Speaking with 247 Malawi News Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Hestings Chigalu says the court heard from Sub Inspector Florence Mlanje of Lilongwe Police that the convict met the boy at around 19:00 hours.

Chigalu added that the boy found himself seeking shelter in the minibus depot due to fears he had, to go back home and face his parents after he lost the money (K1000) parents gave him to buy things at the market.
While issuing threats to stab the victim with a knife if he refused to comply, the convict defiled the boy using unnatural sexual order.
Worse enough, the boy was made to suck the convict’s manhood and then forced to swallow the resulting sperms.
Since 2023 after his re-arrest and sent on remand the convict, surprisingly, kept on dodging court appearances. He did not want to leave prison for reasons best known to himself.
Each time the court arranged a hearing for his case, he would go into hiding within Maula Prison confinements.
Appearing in court, he refused to defend himself, and never said a word despite numerous counseling sessions the court engaged with him.
In submission, Prosecutor Mlanje prayed for a stiffer sentence citing the manner in which the offence was committed, describing it as heartless.
Passing his sentence, Senior Resident Magistrate Bracious Kondowe, concurred with the state.
Magistrate Kondowe said that after defiling the boy, it was also dehumanizing to have the convict forcing the child to suck his [convict] manhood and swallow the resulting sperms.
Before pronouncing his sentence, Magistrate Kondowe said, “I join the State in wondering what really the convict wanted to achieve by subjecting the victim to such a demeaning treatment.
“His actions are indeed not befitting a human being but a beast, and his actions must be punished to ensure that he is reformed. And that best interests of the child must be upheld at all times”he said.
