A Senior Resident Magistrate court in Machinga yesterday sentenced 26-year-old Robert Katsabola to eight years and six months imprisonment with hard labour for being found in possession with a Rhino horn.
Katsabola committed the wildlife crime and arrested on April 27, 2022 at Ntaja in the district, following an undercover mission by Liwonde National Park rangers.
During the mission and recovery of the protected specimen, a game ranger, Given Gondwe, was killed by an angry mob.
Katsabola hails from Wadi Village, Tradional Authority Liwonde in Machinga.
