MBTS hails blood donors, stakeholders and staff in the Eastern Region for blood collection triumph

Head of Malawi Blood Transfusion Service in the Eastern Region Edith Chimphamba has hailed blood donors and various stakeholders for helping the organisation in the region surpassing it’s annual target for the just ended  2024/2025 financial year.

MBTS Eastern Region which has offices in Balaka district registered a 101 percent blood collection achievement as 17,489 units of blood were collected from a target of 17,334 units.

This is the fourth consecutive time for the centre to exceed its annual target and according to Chimphamba, this is a true reflection that people have now realised the importance of donating blood and good working relationships between the centre and its stakeholders.

She therefore thanked all stakeholders, blood donors and staff for the good collaboration which has helped the centre to surpass the target.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to all our blood donors, teachers, traditional leaders and other stakeholders for their contributions in making sure that the Eastern Region has adequate blood supply. Without them we wouldn’t have managed to reach this far,”said Chimphamba.

Chimphamba has since expressed the Centre’s  commitment in strengthening relationship with blood donors and stakeholders inorder to maintain steady supply of safe blood and blood products in all authorised hospitals in the region.
