Malawi Congress Party- MCP aspiring Member of Parliament for Dedza Boma Constituency Gerald Chavez Kampanikiza has announced that he will launch a football and netball league for the Constituency this month.
According to Kampanikiza the launch which is will take place on March 29, is one way of fulfilling his primary election campaign promises where he emphasized on the issue of sports development in the constituency.
He said, “I promised people that I will take a leading role in sports development hence the launch of this league in both men’s football, women’s football and netball.”
Kampanikiza who is also a popular Social Media Influencer, further stated that sport is one way of creating opportunities to the youth in line with Malawi’s 2063 vision.
“Sports is a career and we have many people who are doing well through sports the likes of the Chawinga sisters, Gabadinho Mhango and many athletes so in this constituency we want to produce our own talents,” he Kampanikiza.
Kampanikiza further called on all the teams to be well prepared as the league will be played within a period of 4-5 months.
Out of the K5 million, K2 million will go towards men’s football, K1.5 million to women’s football the same with netball.
This is not the first time for Kampanikiza to run a league in the district as he previously held a Gerald Kampanikiza Dedza District Football and Netball League alongside his wife.
