Nsanje – Senior leaders of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) convened a rally at the Nsanje Prison Ground, where they addressed a crowd of supporters and defended President Lazarus Chakwera against recent rumors regarding his health. Chief Chimombo criticized those spreading claims that the president is unwell, labeling such statements as falsehoods.
In his address, Chief Chimombo called for unity and support for President Chakwera, emphasizing that such rumors are detrimental to the nation’s morale. He urged the public to focus on the positive strides the government is making in improving the lives of Malawians, rather than engaging in gossip and misinformation.
Joining Chief Chimombo at the rally were the MCP Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda and the party chairperson for the southern region, Peter Simbi. Chimwendo Banda reiterated the importance of supporting the president and highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to address various challenges facing the country, including food security and economic development.
The rally served as a platform for MCP leaders to connect with constituents, reaffirm their commitment to progress, and counter negative narratives surrounding the party and its leadership. As the party prepares for future electoral challenges, the emphasis on unity and support for President Chakwera remains central to their strategy in engaging with the electorate.
With the upcoming elections on the horizon, the MCP leadership continues to work towards strengthening their presence in the region, fostering a message of hope and resilience among their supporters in Nsanje and beyond.
