On Saturday, Richard Chimwendo Banda, the Secretary General of the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP), reaffirmed President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s commitment to inclusive growth and social progress during a rally at Chalowa Primary School ground in Senior Traditional Authority Lukwa, Kasungu District.

Addressing a crowd of thousands, including high-ranking MCP officials, Chimwendo Banda highlighted President Chakwera’s priorities for the coming term:

Emphasis on creating opportunities for all Malawians, regardless of political or religious affiliations.

Specific focus on generating employment for the youth and empowering women.

Continued efforts to address and reduce poverty levels across the country.

Chimwendo Banda stressed that Chakwera’s administration is dedicated to enhancing various sectors, including education, healthcare, road and rail infrastructure, sports development, and women’s empowerment. This comprehensive approach, he believes, will bolster Chakwera’s chances of securing another term in the upcoming elections.

Chimwendo Banda described President Chakwera’s vision as one that aims to unite Malawians and harness their collective talents to build a prosperous and dignified future. He praised Chakwera for his integrity and ability to address critical issues such as electricity and fuel crises, as well as for attracting donor support to bolster the national budget.

He also noted the introduction of the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), which aims to facilitate easier access to loans for the youth, thus enhancing their economic opportunities and contributions.

Chimwendo Banda confidently challenged the opposition, asserting that Chakwera’s “development footprints” will be evident on the ballot next year, serving as a testament to his administration’s achievements and a key factor in his re-election bid.

Regional Chairperson for the Central Region, Zebron Chilondola, also addressed the rally, urging newly elected and existing National Executive Committee members to support Chimwendo Banda in revitalizing the party from the grassroots level. This, he suggested, is crucial for securing victory in the next elections.

Member of Parliament Jailosi Bonongwe highlighted the positive developments brought about by Chakwera’s leadership in the area, further solidifying the rally’s message of progress and support for the President.

In conclusion, the rally at Chalowa Primary School underscored MCP’s strong endorsement of President Lazarus Chakwera’s agenda for inclusive growth and development. With a focus on addressing key national issues and leveraging grassroots support, the party is poised to build on its achievements and campaign effectively for the upcoming elections. The unity and commitment expressed by party leaders and members reflect a determined effort to ensure continued progress and prosperity under Chakwera’s leadership.
