Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) commissioner Francis Kasaila has challenged MEC officials to be non-partisan and work proffesionally when discharging their duties ahead of next year’s elections.
Kasaila made the call in Liwonde, Machinga, during the opening of a three days Building Resources In Democracy, Governance and Election (BRIDGE) training for the second corhort of MEC district based stafff from the southern region.
He stressed the need for MEC officers to treat all Malawians equally irrespective of their political affiliations.
In her remarks, Zomba City Assistant District Elections Officer, Naomi Mmanga vowed to perform their duties proffesionally by respecting the electoral laws.
Among others, the workshop seeks to orient the MEC officials on the new legal framework and electoral reforms, voter registration and election administration.
