Michael Usi appointed new Malawi’s Vice President

President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera has appointed United Transformation Movement (UTM) Vice President Michael Usi as the country’s new Vice-President.

Usi, replaces late Saulos Chilima, who died in a plane crash on June 10,2024, alongside other eight Malawians.

According to a statement from Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba, Usi will be sworn-in tomorrow at Parliament Building in Lilongwe.

Born in 1968, Usi attended Mulanje Secondary School.

He once worked for Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

On 6 February 2019,UTM Party leader the late Chilima unveiled Usi as his running mate for May 21 tripartite elections.

At the time of his appointment, he was serving as the Minister of Natural Resources.
