On August 30, 2024, in Lilongwe, Minister Moses Kunkuyu held a press conference to address the recent interim report on the aircraft accident that occurred in June this year. The accident tragically claimed the lives of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and thirty-seven others.
Minister Kunkuyu announced that the report will be made available in Chichewa, the local language, to ensure broader accessibility and understanding. The decision to translate the report from its original English and German versions is based on the recognition that not all Malawians are proficient in these languages.
Kunkuyu emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and effective communication by ensuring that the report is accessible to the general public. He requested that journalists assist in disseminating the translated report to help inform the populace about the details and implications of the accident.
The translation aims to facilitate a better understanding among Malawians, allowing them to grasp the full extent of the findings and the measures being taken to address the issues highlighted by the investigation.
