The Ministry of Homeland Security has recently made and continues to make progress towards achieving maximum security for all Malawians.

Among other achievements, Malawi Police Service has tremendously improved on night patrols which has reduced the crime rate that happens at odd hours of the day.

If this is not enough, the Malawi Police Service managed to reduce accidents during the 2024 new year holiday to 9 from 20 in 2023 over the same period. There is also a great improvement on investigation over various suspected crimes in the country and prosecution of suspended criminals.

Minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has been applauded for his great works at Homeland Ministry

With Ken Zikhale Ng’oma as Minister, the Ministry stood tall in making sure refugees were moved from various localities in the country to the refugee camp where they are legally prepared to stay as one way of ensuring national security.

The country has also seen the transfer of female convicts to separate prisons with male counterparts for their well-being as part of respecting human rights and improving security.

In an interview, early this year, National Deputy Police Spokesperson, Alfred Chimthere said as Malawi Police, they are happy with the progress and strides so far made.

“We are happy as Police to see that initiatives that we have put in place like enforcement of laws, visibility of our officers, and tasks of our Traffic Police department are yielding fruits of success. We are hopeful that in 2024 we will even do better than ever” Said Chimthere.

On his part in a recent interview, Minister responsible for Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma said he is happy to see how his Ministry is performing, adding that he is optimistic that Malawians have a greater trust in the Malawi Police Service than before.

“I am happy to see how the Malawi Police Service is performing, but we are not yet there. I know we still have a lot to do to continue providing maximum security for the citizens. My plea is that citizens have to closely work with Malawi Police and give tips whenever there are suspected crimes within their communities.

I thank President Lazarus Chakwera for always giving guidance and the needed support for the Malawi Police Service to deliver on the citizens’ security well-being, that has even seen my Ministry imparting vocational skills to inmates as one way of preparing them for their life after serving jail terms” Zikhale Ng’oma.

Recently, an assessment made by one renown broadcaster, Times TV through its Hot Current Programme that was aired on Sunday 21st January 2024 has rated Ken Zikhale Ng’oma at 70 percent, a clear indications that Chakwera administration has considered national security greatly for meaningful development of Malawi.
