Renowned business magnate Leston Mulli has fallen victim to a significant theft, with goods worth a staggering K500 million going missing from one of his warehouses.
According to Limbe police spokesman, Aubrey Singanyama, Mulli reported the incident on Friday, prompting an immediate investigation.
“We are taking this matter seriously and are working to recover the stolen goods.
“The police are urging anyone with information about the theft to come forward and assist in the investigation,” said Singanyama.
While Singanyama declined to confirm or deny any arrests, sources within the police department revealed that two individuals, including a female relative of Mulli, have been taken into custody.
The suspects are being held under strict conditions, with limited visiting privileges.
Mulli’s business empire has been a significant contributor to Malawi’s economy, and this theft is a substantial blow to his operations.
