All roads this Tuesday March 21, leads to Mibawa Multi-purpose Hall in Blantyre for a charity music concert organized by Musicians Union of Malawi(MUM) and Mibawa Television to raise funds for cyclone Freddy survivors.
Malawi has been hit by the deadliest cyclone which has ravaged most districts in the Southern Region resulting in the deaths of over 438 people, with the number expected to rise as the rescue mission continues.
In view of this, MUM decided to organize a charity concert, to join well wishers who have been helping the victims since the devastating cyclone.
One of the organizers Denis Kalimbe of Ndirande Anglican Voices says as musicians they thought it wise to use their talent in mobilizing funds and items to help those impacted by the disaster.
“There are many of our brothers and sisters who are in dire need of assistance in the form of food, clothes, shelter and medical supplies. We the artists are there to join other well wishers in helping our fellow Malawians in this difficult time,” he said.
The fundraising concert will feature performances from both gospel and secular musicians in the country.
Some of the artists expected to perform on the day include; The Ndirande Anglican Voices’, Dr Ethel Kamwendo Banda, King James Phiri, Favoured Martha, Princess Chitsulo, Limbani Simenti, Eliza Mponya,Steve Muliya,Thoko Suya,Gloria Mangong’a, Neligo Women’s Choir, Mabel Lwanda, Vin Chizuzu and the Mibawa Band .
The event which will be hosted by Blackjack and Rina will also include secular artists like Phyzix, Nepman, Gibo Pearson, Tuno , Pon G, Sam Smack, Waxy Kay,Lay B Salima, Wikise, Stich Fray,Tarill, Black Nina, Mells and Guntolah.
