Leader of Mass Movement for Economic Revolution who is also Commander General Secretary for Malawi First Independent Coalition for Civic Education Redson Munlo, has made a preliminary official announcement that he has stopped activism and will now be a policy advocate.
Munlo says he has stopped activism of releasing audios and holding demonstrations in the country for policy advocacy saying in the near future he will be holding press conferences, press releases and booking an appointment with all stakeholders who are policy makers regardless of their political party affiliations.
He has advised fellow activists to stop activism of propaganda that he recently met Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council (NGC) member Frederic Billy Malata saying the truth of the matter is that he met Nankhumwa once in October, 2023 when he was with Bon Kalindo.
Speaking through an audio clip circulating in various social media platforms, Munlo says he has stopped activism of insulting and castigating President Lazarus Chakwera and his Tonse Alliance government for policy advocacy for it to do better.
Munlo says the year 2024 will be a busy one claiming that policy advocacy is more involving in things like school, and building his businesses saying there will be no time for him to start preparing audios to Malawians as he was doing it before.
He says he will be working like the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE), Public Affairs Committee (PAC), National Association of Business Women, and others, saying he will be engaging both the opposition and government on matters affecting the poor citizens in Malawi.
The activist says he is happy that he is leaving activism at a good opportunity for the youth to take over from where he has stopped assuring the youth that he has created space for them to be activists and others to fill the gap.
“Those who were taking Munlo as your property, I am no longer your property, no one can restrict me from meeting Prof Mutharika, Enoch Chihana, Atupele Muluzi, President Chakwera, government and opposition, I will be facing the policy makers,” says Munlo.
He has assured Malawians that soon he will hold a press conference to announce his way forward in political career, apologizing to all if he has injured one saying this is the time to build his businesses observing that his businesses suffered, clients were fearing coming to his businesses because of his involvement in activism.
Munlo has made it clear that he will be engaging the leadership at policy level not militant and that he will praise both the opposition and government if they have done something good to the citizens and criticize them for doing the opposite without fear of favour.
