Musician-cum-broadcaster ‘Funghie Mutsinze’ has released a brand new album comprising of Catholic hymns titled ‘From the Three Sources Volume One’.
Released on September 20, 2024, this collection of 13 hymns and one bonus song has been masterfully recorded by Felix Ziyade, Jah Knows Dem, Don T, Sispence and J Mass.
Mutsinze told 247 Malawi that the album is deeply rooted in Catholic traditions and he thinks it will help in strengthening the Catholic faith amongst Catholics across the country and beyond.
“As I was recording this album at my studio [Clean Hearts Studios] it was not just Business as usual. As I was reading through and sung the Catholic hymns, I also got inspired and took some lessons from the hymns. I was reminded of the good old days at Montfort demonstration school when the hymns were sang this way. The Catholic teaching is so rich and divine,” said Mutsinze.
Some of the renowned catholic songs in the album include; Ulemu Kwa Mulungu, Ine Ndimvera, Zikomo Ndithu, Atate a Mphamvu Zonse, Tikutamandani and Ndine Mkhristu.
The album has got one bonus track titled ‘Mukhale Ndi Ine’ which is a Chichewa version of a popular Christian hymn ‘Abide With Me’ which was originally done by a Scottish Anglican cleric Henry Francis Lyte in 1847.
