Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) , has described the by-elections which were held in Karonga as not free, fair, transparent and credible claiming that vote rigging and handouts declared MCP candidates the winner.
MRP said the announcement by Mec Chairperson Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale that whoever has a case against how the elections were conducted in Karonga, must go to police for the arrest and prosecutions of the electoral offenders, is very worrisome.
The Party has claimed that Mec is the rightful body to conduct elections in Malawi and whenever contesting candidates have violated electoral laws, Mec should apprehend the suspects and hand them over to police.
Speaking through his face book page followed by millions of people in Malawi and Africa as a continent, President and Commander in Chief of MRP Bantu Saunders Jumah, said Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale has proved himself that he is bias towards the ruling party and not to be neutral.
Jumah has observed that the elections that saw Willard Gwengwe declared winner for Dedza central constituency with handouts on the voting day, have been repeated in Karonga and this has casted doubts that Mec is not ready to handle the 2025 elections.
He said in a democratic nation, political parties have to congratulate the winning party saying no party in Malawi sent congratulatory messages to the winning candidate and the MCP because people are not satisfied with the way Mec Is failing to handle electoral related complaints against the MCP.
The MRP President said it is sad that the MCP has weaken state institutions one of it being Mec and is compromised saying this is the same with the Legislature and the Judiciary observing that these two arms of government are compromised too, the ruling party has become untouchables.
He noted with a great concern that if government is functioning, 3 arms of government must be working independently and not compromised as they are today under the MCP led Tonse Alliance government the 3 arms of government are not functioning.
“If Malawians don’t voice out their concerns, Malawi must expect anarchy, chaos, and civil strife because the majority of Malawians are in pain and suffering,” said Jumah.
He has finally said he is standing on a point of order pleading to all patriotic Malawians to stand up and defend the Republican Constitution so that in the laws governing Malawi, there should be no one untouchable with the country’s laws.
