Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda has emphasized on the need to advance open justice among judges saying this is a good move towards developing a fair justice system in the country.
Mzikamanda was speaking on Thursday during a Malawi Judiciary Open Day in Blantyre.
According to the Chief Justice, there have been several interventions put across to mitigate backlog and delays in cases, among them, involving the public in judicial operations.
He indicated that the judiciary will continue to advance open justice in order to promote transparency, accountability, and public confidence.
Mzikamanda added that they will continue to spearhead public engagement and understanding for the smooth delivery of justice in Malawi.
The judiciary open day was held under the theme ” serving people better”.
The event was spiced up with activities like drama, singing and dancing.
Among others present were Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda and Director of Public Prosecutions Masauko Chamkakala.
