Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba says the defection of party member Dalitso Kabambe to the United Transformation Movement (UTM) has not affected the party.
Kabambe left the DPP last week and was introduced as a UTM member on Tuesday at a rally in his home district of Thyolo.
In an interview with 247 Malawi News, Namalomba said:”The party remains unaffected by this development.
“We will continue with our preparations for the upcoming elective convention as planned.”
The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor, has not yet disclosed his reasons for leaving the DPP to join the UTM.
The UTM recently withdrew from the Malawi Congress Party-led Tonse governing alliance.
