NCIC to launch National Construction Day

National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) says will on May 20,2025 launch the inaugural National Construction Day to promote quality construction and celebrate the sector’s contribution to national development.

The event, themed ‘Quality Driven Construction Industry: Building for Generations’, aims to highlight the importance of durable infrastructure and promote best practices in the industry.

In an interview with 247 Malawi News,NCIC Chief Executive Officer(CEO ) Gerald Khonje, said the day will provide a platform to promote quality infrastructure, ethical conduct, integrity, partnership, safety, sustainability, agility, and innovation in construction.

He emphasized the significance of construction in national development, citing iconic infrastructure projects around the world that have stood the test of time.

Khonje said the celebration will be held at the Bingu International Convention Centre(BICC ) in Lilongwe and that President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera will preside over the event.

He said the day will be preceded by exhibitions of construction equipment and various development projects.

NCIC was established by an Act of Parliament in 1996, with the primary mandate to regulate, develop, and promote the construction industry in the country.

The council is responsible for overseeing the construction sector, ensuring that it operates efficiently, effectively, and safely.
