Malawi Regulatory Authority (MERA) has announced the adjustment of prices of Petrol, Diesel and Paraffin effective 10th April 2022.
Announcing this in Mangochi, MERA Chief Executive Officer, Henry Kachaje, said the Petrol price has been adjusted from K1,150.00 to K 1,380.00 representing 20%, Diesel from K1,120.00 to K 1,470.00 representing 31.25% and Paraffin from K833.20 to K 956.00 representing 14.7%.
Kachaje said following high fuel prices on the international market and consequently increased landing costs of the products, has necessitated the MERA Board to adjust the maximum pump prices.
The CEO disclosed that the cost of importing petroleum products had increased significantly. However, the board in consultation with the Ministry of Finance resolved to reduce some levies to minimise the resultant pump prices.
