Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club has confirmed that midfielder Chimwemwe Idana has left the club after failing to agree on contract extension terms.

According to a statement posted on the club’s website, Idana’s contract with the club was supposed to come to an end on 21 February 2023 but the two sides have agreed not to renew the contract.

“Nyasa Big Bullets can confirm that Chimwemwe Idana has left the club with immediate effect after failing to agree on contract extension terms. His current deal ends on 21 February 2023,” reads the statement in part.

The player who also plays for the Malawi national football team, The Flames, was reportedly demanding 8 million kwacha signing on fee to extend his contract for a year.

Chimwemwe Idana who has been with the club for six years, joined the People’s team through its reserves in 2017 before earning his promotion to the senior team in the 2018/19 season.

During his stay at the club, Idana won two Charity Shields, four TNM Super League titles, the Airtel Top 8 Cup and the FDH Bank Cup.

He was also voted Player of the Season in the 2020/21 campaign.
