Old Mutual Investment Group Limited engages its customes in a webinar panel discussions

Old Mutual Investment Group Limited (OMIG) a subsidiary of Old Mutual (Malawi) Limited on Thursday July 28 2022, hosted a live webinar discussion with its customers at Sun Bird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre themed ‘Navigating Market Volatility to Optimize Investment Outcomes’

The Webinar focused on how to negotiate market turbulence to maximize investment outcomes among the company’s customers.

During the webinar, experts within the asset management firm were drawn to share insights and on the other hand the customers had a chance to ask the panelists questions in an interactive way for further clarification where the had a challenge of understanding.



One of the key points said during the discussions was that the company has gave an assurance to the customers that it is doing everything possible to take its attention to the environmental circumstances that are on the market so as to maximize investment outcomes.

According to the experts, Climate Change and Inflation are some of the major problems that have greatly affected their services market.

Speaking after the event, Managing Director for OMIG, Mark Mikwamba said what it is needed most in time like this is to be more resilient and focus on investment .

Mikwamba added that there is also need to look on the capabilities in terms of investment alternatives as well as long term investments because every opportunity has got its challenges.

“As you know, the world is going through volatile environment, and our customers have been asking on what we are doing locally to promote and manage the investment.

” So the today’s engagement is give them assurance that we are paying attention to the environment and we have their interest at heart so that we can help them to rich their objectives,” Mikwamba attributed

On his part, The company’s property General Manager Damien Kafoteka said as the world is going through turbulence in terms of inflation as well as the Russia- Ukraine war, there is need to navigate markets.

He said “What we are saying is that at Old Mutual we have different asset classes like property, equity as well as the newly introduced alternative investments.

“All we are saying is that, lets remain diversifying in all what we are investing.

” Let’s put much focus on alternative investment as this will help us to move away from the traditional ways of investing thereby have time to look at agricultural as well as infrastructural investment.

At Old Mutual, qe do this for the benefit of our clients so that they should be engaged in diversification of their investment in order to maximize outcomes.”

One of Old Mutual customers Innoncecia Chirombo who is a Principal Of at Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) pension fund commended the gesture saying the engagement was helpful as it strengthened their unity as customers with the company.

Chirimbo said the webinar enlightened them with much full knowledge in terms of other new investments that have arised at the company.

“In terms of alternative investments, it is now high time that we should move from the traditional investment and venture into these alternative investments.

“As for us at CHAM pension fund, we have enough money to venture into that and to develop this country,” she said.

The webinar was also being participated via online platforms with the very same interactivity engagement from all the stakeholders.
