By Cedric Nkungula

It was all glitz and glamour on Saturday as Pastor Nick Chakwera launched a music project dubbed Nyimbo za Chitsotsombetso Volume One at International Christian Assembly (ICA) Marquee in Lilongwe.

Recorded live at Sound Addicts Studios in Lilongwe, the 10 track reggea genre project’s content is in line with a radio program that he pioneered 10 years ago on Channel for All Nations (CAN) radio and television entitled, ring of truth which focuses on teachings of christian faith.

People from all walks of life including Minister of Civic Education and National Unity Timothy Mtambo graced the occasion.

The patrons were treated to mouth watering performances by Mpingo wa Christu, Great Angels Choir, Maclem and many others.

In an interview after the launch, Pastor Chakwera said he is hopeful that the music will inspire his followers to listen and think more about faith.

Chakwera said that he was delighted to have finally met in person followers of his program.

“This is the very first time that we have all come together in one place to meet each other. Generally I am happy that people came, some names that are here on air I have never seen them but I have come to know them,” he emphasized.

“I have seen them face to face and they have also seen me and I am happy with that.”

Pastor Chakwera said plans are underway to improve the program to make it more exciting.

“We want to improve the program in many ways, the content and the format. It’s three hours of continous live phone calls, we want to include interviews with experts on various issues. We want to be able to also do community visits,” he said.

The program is aired live both on CAN Radio and TV on Thursdays from 7 : 30pm to 10 : 30pm. It is also streamed live on Pastor Nick Chakwera’s Facebook page.
