Peter Mutharika personal bodyguard Norman Paulos Chisale is not above the Law

Social media is currently awash of campaign materials belonging to the former Peter Mutharika’s personal body guard Paulos Norman Chisale ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Chisale is eying for Ntcheu Central Constituency parliamentary seat.

What is surprising people and commentators on social media is that Chisale is busy with the campaign and yet he is answering multiple charges hanging on his head.

For starters on June 14, 2020, Police arrested Mutharika’s bodyguard, for allegedly helping him avoid nearly $7 million in import duties though Mutharika denied knowledge of the scheme, which saw cement for construction of his private property imported duty free.

Norman Chisale is one among several people whom police arrested for alleged involvement in the cement importation deal.

In the same year, police arrested the former deputy commissioner general of the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), Roza Mbilizi, for facilitating the importation of the duty-free cement.

Records show that MRA gave Mutharika the clearance to make the duty-free cement importations in three tranches, with each consignment valued at $2.24 million.

A businessman implicated in the deal, Ahmed Chunara, told police that the imports were initiated by State House officials with Chisale on the central stage.

As that is not enough Chisale is also implicated in several cases including being found with suspicious and unexplain property. After being found with 84 vehicles.

Such kind of a person is supposed to clear himself first before standing in on any public office.

This is time Chisale needs to dedicate all his time and resources in fighting for his clearance.
