By Chisomo Phiri and Durell Namasani

American popstar Madonna has been hospitalized in a New York City hospital. The singer was reportedly found unresponsive in a hotel room with serious bacterial infection. Madonna is not only known for her music to Malawians but for the famous adoption on Malawians babies David Banda, Mercy James as well as twins Stella and Estelle.

The situation has forced a 64-year-old singer to postpone her forthcoming “The Celebration Tour” which had been scheduled to launch in Vancouver on July 15, according to an Instagram post from her manager Guy Oseary.

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” he wrote.

Madonna: Now out of Intensive care

Rosanna Arquette, who co-starred with Madonna in 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan, sent “love and good light vibrations” for recovery.

Singer The Weeknd showed his support, along with Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie.

Madonna’s manager said  she had been in intensive care due to a “serious bacterial infection”.

Madonna is believed to still be receiving treatment in a New York hospital but is no longer in intensive care
