Pope Francis appoints Reverend Father Alfred Mateyu Chaima as Bishop of Zomba Diocese

The head of the Catholic Church Pope Francis has today appointed Reverend Father Alfred Mateyu Chaima from the Archdiocese of Blantyre as the new Bishop of Zomba diocese.

The announcement has been made in Vatican city, Italy.

Confirming the appointment in a statement, President of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi has asked people in the country to congratulate the bishop-elect for the appointment and that people should remember him in they prayers.

Reverend Fr. Chaima is also serving as the Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi.
