It has been confirmed that a chemistry lecturer at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources ( LUANAR) Professor Peter Mumba was poisoned.
Mumba died on April 25,2020 but his death raised suspicions.
On Wednesday, pathologist who helped in conducting a postmortem on the body of late Mumba, told the court that the professor died due to a toxic chemical substance poisoning.
The witness, pathologist Professor George Liomba, was testifying in a case in which Mumba’s wife, Annie is answering charges of murdering her late husband.
He told the court that he was asked by fellow pathologist Charles Dzamalala to help in conducting the postmortem of late Mumba.
Liomba read out page 3 of his report in court which said there was no evidence of intracranial haemorrhage, meaning there was no evidence of bleeding inside the skull and the brain.
According to Liomba, the liver was estimated to weigh about 1200gm.
He gave out the weights of the lungs as 650gm and 550gm for right and left respectively, which he explained might have been due the infused embalming fluid.
Following this, the late Mumba’s wife Annie has now a case to answer on her husband’s death.
