President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has touched down in Windhoek, Namibia, to join the nation in bidding farewell to the late President Hage Geingob, who passed away on February 4, 2024.
Accompanied by the first Lady, Madam Monica Chakwera, and other government dignitaries, President Chakwera was warmly welcomed upon arrival by Namibian officials, including Deputy Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Janet Sande, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Anna Shiweda and High Commissioner Stella Ndau, Malawi’s Envoy to Namibia.
The President and Malawian delegation will attend the state memorial service at Independence Stadium, paying tribute to the legacy of President Geingob, scheduled for 14:00 hours in the afternoon.
The final resting place for the late President Geingob will be heroes acre in Windhoek, where he will be laid to rest on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
President Geingob served as Namibia’s president from 2015 until his passing. His dedication to his nation and the continent of Africa will be remembered with great respect and admiration.
President Chakwera’s presence underscores the unity and solidarity among African leaders as they honor the life and achievements of a distinguished statesman.
