President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has reaffirmed his commitment towards fighting Covid-19 pandemic.
Writing on his Facebook page after hosting the Coordinator of Global of Covid-19 Vaccine Delivery Partnership Ted Chaiban on Thursday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, President Chakwera said his interface with different partners demonstrates his unwavering commitment in fighting the pandemic.
“I pledge our commitment towards the fight against the novel pandemic and interfacing with key personnel like Mr. Chaliban further emboldens our resolve on this path,” said President Chakwera.
He said Malawi is on course of rolling out necessary programs across the country that will ensure the impact of the pandemic on the livelihoods is mitigated.
“Despite the low uptake of the vaccine, we still have remained on course in rolling out necessary programs across the country to ensure that that the we fully mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the livelihoods.”
The Malawi leader expressed his optimism that Chaiban’s visit will go a long way in accelerating the vaccination and mobilise more resources to curb the pandemic.
Statistics from the World Health Organization indicate that Malawi is among the least Covid-19 vaccination countries with 1.1 million people from a population currently projected around at 19 million.
