A vibrant atmosphere filled with rhythm and energy has gripped the city of Lilongwe, as members of the Rastafarian community, along with others, gathered in Area 17 for a lively procession to Kawale Nyahbinghi House. The participants have recently set off on this colorful journey, filled with drumbeats and the sound of their signature instruments, echoing with chants of “Pidipidi! Bampa! Pidipidi! Bampa!”
The purpose of this procession is to raise awareness across the city and the country about the upcoming arrival of reggae legend Burning Spear, who is set to arrive on Friday, October 25th. His highly anticipated performance will take place on October 26th at Civo Stadium.
The Ras have planned their route to begin in Area 17, passing by key landmarks such as the Parliament building, the Interchange, Bwandilo, Cross Roads, and ending at the Community Ground. Along the way, their drumming and chanting have drawn crowds, adding excitement and building anticipation for Burning Spear’s historic visit.
This march serves as both a celebration of reggae culture and a public call to the city of Lilongwe to prepare for what promises to be an unforgettable event.
