Referee Mayamiko Kanjere is the talk of the town after flashing four red cards to Silver Strikers as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers claimed a 1-nil victory over the central bankers in a TNM Super League match played at Kamuzu stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Francis Nkonda scored the only goal of the match just seconds before half time after an assist by Emmanuel Nyirenda.
However, the match was not without controversies as referee Mayamiko Kanjere flashed seven yellow cards and four red cards during the game.
Silver Strikers Assistant coach Peter Mgangira was the first to be shown a red card in the 34th minute for uttering nasty words on the fourth official.
The second red card went to the coach himself Pieter De Jongh in the 68th minute for what was described by the referee as unsporting conduct in the technical area.
Other recipients of the red cards were Silver’s goalkeeper’s trainer Sibusiso Padambo and defender Nickson Mwase.
After the match, the goal scorer, Francis Nkonda was voted man of the match.
Wanderers are fourth on the log table with 22 points a point behind third placed Chitipa United who have played a game more than the Lali-Lubani boys.
Silver Strikers are on position 2 with 25 points a point adrift of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who are leading in the standings.
Wanderers’ next assignment is against Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
