Rev. Anderson Juma elected CCAP Blantyre Synod General Secretary, takes over from Billy Gama

Reverend Anderson Juma is now the new General Secretary(GS) for the CCAP Blantyre Synod, replacing Reverend Billy Gama, following a closely contested election on Monday in Blantyre.

Reverend Juma got 192 votes against 186 for Reverend Gama, a difference of 6 votes.

During a 34th biennial Assembly at HHI in the city, delegates also ushered in Reverend Dr. Humphreys Zgambo as the Synod’s new Moderator, replacing Reverend Edna Navaya who was also seeking re-election.

Reverend Zgambo secured the seat with 237 votes while Navaya amassed 166 votes.

The new Moderator Reverend Zgambo will be deputized by Reverend Annie Kapinda, replacing Reverend Ernest Mpate who was also seeking fresh mandate.

The CCAP Blantyre Synod was established in the 19th century by Scottish missionaries.

The synod has about 1.8 million members in 800 local congregations.
