Nancy Mbale, 43, who was working as a hospital attendant at Rumphi District Hospital is expected to spend 2 and half years(30 months) of her life in prison with hard labour for being found in possession of assorted essential medical drugs without permit barely two days after the hospital pharmacy was consumed by fire.
In court, Mbale pleaded guilty to the charges and magistrate Cuthbert Phiri, in his judgement, observed that Mbale deserved a stiffer punishment to deter would be offenders.
She hails from Jeyeka Village, Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in the district.
Meanwhile, authorities are yet to establish what might have caused the fire accident at the facility.
