Senior Chief Kapichi of Thyolo laid to rest

The body of the late Senior Chief Kapichi of Thyolo has on Monday been laid to rest at his Khonjeni headquarters in the district.

Attending the burial ceremony on behalf of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Owen Chomanika.

In his eulogy, Chomanika said the country has lost a visionary and development conscious leader who had the welfare of his people at heart.



He said this is the reason government referred late Kapichi to India for medication, but to no avail.

However, President Chakwera consoled the family with 1 million kwacha.

Born in Fyson James Mpina in 1944, Senior Chief Kapichi, died on Thursday after succumbing to diabetes and High Blood Pressure complications.

He is survived by a wife, 4 children and 4 grandchildren.
