Silver Strikers Demolishes Mighty Wanderers to reach FDH Cup Final

By Staff Reporter

Silver Strikers are through to the FDH Cup finals after demolishing Mighty Wanderers 3-0 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Silver took the lead through man-of-the match Patrick Macheso 36 minutes in the first half.

The central bankers doubled their lead in the second half through Blessings Tembo who scored in the 57th minute.

Wanderers goalie Richard Chipuwa then had to deny Mark Fodya to prevent the central bankers increasing their lead but the defender came back some minutes later to get Silver’s third goal.

Silver will now meet Ekwendeni in the finals

Wanderers made a couple of substitutions introducing Felix Zulu for Vitumbiko Kumwenda and Peter Cholopi for Yunus Sherrif but this did not help as the capital city giants looked more determined to get to the final.

Silver will now face Ekwendeni Hammers in the final at a venue to be announced by the football governing body.

The sponsorship package for the FDH Cup is at 90 million Kwacha and winners are expected to walk away with 25 million Kwacha while runners up will take home 8 million Kwacha.
