Super League of Malawi( SULOM) has announced that it has activated the red card for a Mighty Mukuru Wanderers striker Christopher Kumwembe which he received last week against Mighty Tigers.
Kumwembe received the red card but he was allowed to continue the match.
SULOM says it made the boardroom decision following a match assessor’ report and a video footage that was presented to it.
“Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Christopher Kumwembe’s red card has been activated following the match assessor’s report and video footage which showed that the player received two yellow cards during the match between Mighty Tigers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on 7th May 2023 played at Mpira Stadium,” reads the statement SULOM has recently released.
The red card activation means that the player will not be included in the today’s club match against Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium
Kumwembe received two yellow cards from referee Micheal Mwambyale but continued playing until he got substituted in the second half.
The match ended 1-1.
