The Superleague of Malawi (SULOM) is gearing up for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 1, 2025, in Mangochi, where key decisions on the league’s future will be made. The meeting will not only review the financial report for the 2024 season but also pave the way for the election of a new Vice President and an executive member.
The Vice President position has been vacant since Gilbert Mitawa took over as Sulom President, following Fleetwood Haiya’s election as President of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM). Ronald Chiwaula has been serving as the acting Vice President, but it remains to be seen if he will throw his hat into the ring for the substantive position.

According to Donex Chilonga, Sulom’s vice general Secretary, the AGM will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss plans for the upcoming league season. With the elections for the Vice President and executive member positions, Sulom is poised to usher in a new era of leadership.
As the football fraternity awaits the AGM, speculation is rife about who will contest the Vice President position. Will Ronald Chiwaula seek to retain the position, or will new challengers emerge? The Sulom AGM is set to be a pivotal moment in the league’s history, shaping the course of Malawian football for years to come.
