Sunganimoyo denies entry into politics to reduce Chakwera votes

Social commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, has dismissed claims which are being made by some people in Malawi that his joining of frontline politics as an independent presidential candidate for 2025 elections would reduce votes for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to bounce back into government.

Sunganimoyo said his joining into active politics is a blessing in disguise as he has been in political blindness supporting a President and the party basing on tribalism and regionalism observing that standing as an independent presidential candidate would make the others open their eyes not to follow political blindness.

He said that him being a Chewa by tribe, does not mean that he should and be affiliated to the MCP the party associated with most of the Chewas in Malawi saying time has now come for him and others who are tired of being in political blindness to form their own political parties or joining other parties.

Speaking through a video clip circulating in various social media platforms, Sunganimoyo said he has no change of heart that he could be going back to the MCP as pressure is demanding him to do so claiming that President Chakwera is not President of the Chewas but all Malawians.

Sunganimoyo said if President Chakwera was President of the Chewas and Kalonga Dr. Gawa Undi was governing Malawi as a President, he would not have made a strong decision of standing in 2025 as an independent presidential candidate as this will be interpreted as turning against his own tribe-the Chewas.

He said he will be going out flat campaigning against president Chakwera’s leadership policies of running government not against his own tribe claiming that politicians regardless of their tribes, have been making Malawians not to see and think outside the box.

The social commentator has vowed to go ahead with his political goals, no one is changing him to remain in the MCP as previously was, and he doesn’t see any good reason that he will continue supporting President Chakwera’s led government.

“A child is born out from a family, grew up to form a family of his own, politics is the same, I have to form my own party or joining other existing parties,” said Sunganimoyo.

He has made it clear that MCP is a national party, it has members from all the regions across the country unlike other existing parties which are for families saying it is totally wrong to associate the MCP with the Chewas in Malawi.

The social commentator has urged the Chewas that take the MCP as a tribal political party not to join him in the journey to bail out Malawians from abstract poverty caused by the destructive agents that have made the country poor for 60 years such as tribalism, regionalism, education, politics and religion.
