The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi( ESCOM) says the cold and cloudy weather is affecting its power generation resulting in a drastic sharp demand for electricity against inadequate supply.
The company says this is what is destabilizing its system hence frequent power supply interruptions in some parts of the country.

However, to balance the system, ESCOM says it will commence loadshedding for customers in group A more than an hour and that the customers will be updated accordingly as the situation improves.
Meanwhile, the company has advised the customers in the said group A to switch off all their electrical appliances as power supply may be restored fully sooner than expected.
