Omex Banda, 26,Charles Banda, 26 and Austin Elias, 29, are in police custody in Chileka, Blantyre on suspension that they brutally killed a 26 -year-old Peter Matchutchu from Belekamoyo village,Traditional Authority (T/A) Chigalu in the district.
According to Chileka Police Station public relations officer Jonathan Phillipo, the deceased’s father Charles Matchutchu reported that his son was working as a security guard and on September 2, 2023, while on night duty he was assaulted to death by unknown criminals who invaded his work place and went away with a big generator and two solar bulbs.
He said: “Investigations were instituted which led to the arrest of the three suspects.”
Philipo said upon interrogations, the suspects admitted to have participated in the killing of the security guard before they stole the generator and solar bulbs.
Meanwhile, police have managed to recover the stolen items and the three will soon appear in court to answer charges leveled against them.
