A dedicated group of Times Radio listeners, led by the Mayi Wamakono program,on Monday donated assorted items to support children with disabilities at Chikamveka Primary School in Matawale, Zomba.
In an interview with journalists,Chairperson of the group Chrissie Baluwa explained that they came together to pool their resources and make a meaningful impact on the education of these children.
“We have collectively raised over K250,000, which we used to purchase essential items like flour, soap, salt, and soya pieces. We are also grateful to DAPP for their kind donation of clothing,” Baluwa said.
In an inspiring address, Times Radio presenter Fungai Mutsinze urged the learners to strive for excellence, emphasizing that their hard work and determination can significantly contribute to their personal growth and national development.
Headteacher of the school, Eunice Thewe expressed heartfelt appreciation for the donation, highlighting the school’s ongoing challenges, including a shortage of wheelchairs, pit latrines, and learning materials.
The charitable initiative was part of Times Radio’s 9th birthday anniversary celebrations.
