King Charles III has invited Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia to a Ministerial Water Forum scheduled for next week in Buckingham Palace.
The invitation was announced by Water Witness International CEO Nick Hepworth during an international leardership forum in Lilongwe organised by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation co-hosted with the UK Government under the Just Transitions for Water Security programme.

This comes at a time when Malawi is making strides in the water sector with policy reforms and the coming up of the National Water Resources Authority.
Mia while attending the forum, is expected to share the country’s success in the water sector as she reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring universal access to clean water in meeting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on water and sanitation.
“We don’t have time for just rhetoric. What we need now is action. Millions of Malawians are looking forward to having access to safe, clean water and we have more than five years to cross the finish line. Therefore, we must do more that triple our efforts,” Mia stated.
Mia has since attributed the invitation to the achievements from President Chakwera’s visionary leadership, highlighting the strong political will at the highest level to push the water agenda forward.
Honourable Abel Kayembe received the accolade on behalf of Mia in UK.
