One of the country’s renowned Professors of Economics from University of Malawi Ben Kaluwa has died.
Kaluwa has died at Mwayiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre after a short illness.
His remains will be laid to rest tomorrow at his home village in Zomba.
Kaluwa had been a Professor of Economics at the University of Malawi since 1994.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Edinburgh University in 1986.
He also had a Bachelor of Social Science Degree from the University of Malawi, a Diploma in Economics and a Master of Arts Degree in Quantitative Economics from the University of East Anglia in United Kingdom.
Kalua was widely respected in the economic field and provided economic analysis and commentary on most of the economic issues affecting the country
