The United States Embassy has commended President Lazarus Chakwera for his on-going commitment in fighting corruption in the country.

This follows his national address on Wednesday in which he fired Director of Public Prosecutions, Steve Kayuni and recommended disciplinary measures on two deputies to the Police Chief over matters surrounding the arrest and release of the ACB boss, Martha Chizuma.

” The United States Embassy applauds President Chakwera’s speech today emphasizing the ongoing commitment of his government to fight against corruption in Malawi.

” We welcome the President’s important steps taken today to strengthen this fight,” reads the statement the embassy released yesterday.

The embassy adds that, the united states government will continue to support Chakwera’s efforts in the fight against corruption so as to help Malawi achieve its development goal.

Chakwera has for the second time spared Chizuma over a leaked audio; stressing he still believes she is courageous and determined to lead Malawi’s corruption fight.
