By Chisomo Phiri

Vice President Dr.Michael Usi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring no Malawian dies of hunger due to political affiliations.

Speaking at Musa Village in Chiradzulu District on Friday, Usi emphasized that hunger knows no political boundaries and that the country belongs to all Malawians, regardless of their political differences.

The Vice President stressed the importance of tolerance and unity among different political parties, saying that Malawians should prioritize loving and supporting one another for the nation’s development.

“Our government is dedicated to serving all Malawians, regardless of their political affiliations, because our ultimate goal is to support the people of Malawi,” he said.

Usi also acknowledged the challenges faced by Cyclone Freddy survivors, assuring them of the government’s continued support until they recover.

He noted that some individuals have downplayed the economic impact of Cyclone Freddy, but the reality is that many survivors are still struggling to make ends meet.

To address this, Usi announced plans to distribute National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) loans in the area, enabling survivors to start small businesses and provide for their families.

On his part Member of Parliament(MP)  for Chiradzulu Chiradzulu South Joseph Mwanamveka expressed gratitude for the government’s relief efforts but appealed for more aid, citing the survivors’ dire need for essentials like blankets, food, water, and fertilizer.
