Traditional leaders from Karonga and Chitipa have challenged the State of the Nation Address (SONA) critics to approach them for testimonies of development projects that President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is implementing.
The chiefs made the remarks on Friday when Chiefs from Karonga and Chitipa engaged President Chakwera, at Mzuzu State Lodge in Mzuzu City.

Paramount Chief Mwaulambya of Chitipa said the Chakwera led administration has implemented a number of notable of developments.
He then challenged those that have advanced the contrary to go into the villages and establish the facts directly from the chiefs.
Mwaulambya said those accusing Chakwera of dishonesty are doing so to gain some political mileage.
He praised President Chakwera for the mega farms initiative, saying it is a means to eradicating hunger in the country. Said Mwaulambya, “this is the only way to make Malawi a food secure nation.”
Taking his turn, Paramount Chief Kyungu of Karonga decried the tendency of insulting the president. He called on the chiefs of Karonga and Chitipa to be united.
“As custodians of culture and tradition, we must always strive to preserve peace to develop this country,” he said.
He therefore advised the President to concentrate on developing Malawi and not be distracted and derailed by a few alternative views.
He further asked President Chakwera to consider establishing a Mining University to help the people of Karonga and Chitipa on how to manage their mineral resources.
