The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson, Shadreck Namalomba, says their party has no particular reaction to the resignation of one of its executive members and former presidential hopeful, Dalitso Kabambe.
In a statement, Namalomba says everyone has freedom of association.
“The resignation of Hon Dr. Kabambe has been brought to our attention, and our party would like to address it. We firmly believe in the freedom of association and respect every individual’s right to make their own decisions.
“Our party remains committed to the principles of democracy and will continue to uphold the values of freedom and equality for all individuals,” says Namalomba.
Kabambe, a former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor, resigned from the former ruling party on Monday, July 15, 2024.
It remains to be seen where Kabambe will take his presidential ambitions as the political space is re-engineering for elections next year.
