Emmanuel Mwanyongo, a former senior member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) executive committee, has announced his decision to join the United Transformation Movement (UTM). Mwanyongo, who is also known by the moniker Yongo Wa Yongo, made this announcement to Zodiak Online earlier today.
Mwanyongo cited his desire to return to active politics and honor the principles championed by the late UTM leader, Dr. Saulos Chilima, as the main reasons for his move. He highlighted his respect for Chilima’s values and vision as a motivating factor in his decision.
Mwanyongo had previously stepped down from his role as a senior member of the MCP executive committee in February of the previous year. His shift to UTM marks a significant change in his political career, reflecting his alignment with the policies and direction of his new party.
