MCP Director of strategy Ken Zikhale Ng’oma on Sunday evening showcased his political smartness and prowess as he come out triumph amidst bombardment of questions from Journalists Brian Banda and Jona Pamkuku on the Times TV flagship show Hot Current.
Zikhale has been applauded by many who watched the show for his handling of the questions, clarity of thought and attention to detail.
The Homeland Minister was put on the spot in a number of sensitive issues , one of it being the Presidential Candidacy in 2025 . The host presenters queried the Minister on whether President Chakwera will stand again in the forth coming election. Zikhale was quick to neutralise that question by asking the presenters as to what the constitution of Malawi says . It was discovered then that constitutionally , Chakwera has the right to serve two terms . On whether Chakwera will represent Tonse Alliance amidst rumours that it was agreed that he will hand over to Chilima, Zikhale said he could not comment on mere rumours and highlighted that people should always remember that Tonse alliance is comprised of almost 8 political parties and not just two
Banda and Pamkuku also dropped in the question on the recent survey by the European Intelligence Unit(EIU) that has predicted that Chakwera will lose in 2025. Zikhale was quick to counter that by firstly highlighting that these type of research always has margin of errors. He said the EIU also has a track record of making errors giving examples of wrong predictions in USA elections where the group said Hillary Clinton will win , only for Trump to win and in the recent Nigeria elections where the group said Abubaker will win only for Tinubu to win.
Zikhale made a strong case for MCP saying the Chakwera government is working hard and the economy will be in track with manageable inflation levels, saying the administration is working so hard. “The country was in huge debt that was left by the previous regime, but the Chakwera regime has worked hard to reduce the debt and win back the trust of IMF” argued Zikhale
Zikhale spoke of infrastructure developments thats the Chakwera administration is currently undertaking , road, fertiliser being accessible by people in the rural areas and said if not for Cyclones Freddy, most of these developments could have been Implemented by now
